Spinning Plates
by Tabitha
Like a balancing act of Spinning plates,
I found myself overwhelmed and lacking confidence. Then the Lord
came and brought me peace, strength and assurance. Read my story below on the goodness of God. How it is in His perfect authority and complete control
that we can rest and be at peace, for He has us in the very palm of His hands.
I saw myself with all these plates high up on different sized sticks like a plate spinner at a circus, showing off their talent! Except I wasn’t showing off my talent. I had lots of plates. I was trying to keep them all up and going. As I was concerned about all these plates and worried about them falling, I felt the pressure and stress of too many plates and it was just too much for me to handle. As I was watching them spin and feeling the stress and pressure to keep them all up and going I thought. How am I even holding this many plates? I only have 2 hands, and I keep using them to spin the plates…
Then I decided to look down to find out how, full of fear that if I took my eyes off these plates they would all surely fall, I looked down. They were all floating above me and all around me. I was pretty confused.
I heard God say, “You’re not the one holding all of this together, I Am.”
Then I was relieved. I was kind of like, “Oh…” all the pressure was gone, and I even felt kind of silly. I thought I was keeping all those things going, but all the time it wasn’t even me. All that stress and pressure was for nothing… I was so focused on those plates I couldn’t even think of anything else. I was stressed the heck out from those plates, it was simply too much for me to handle!
“You’re not the one holding all of this together, I Am.”
Sometimes we find ourselves in situations that are simply too much for us to handle, we stress and worry and scramble, our minds are flooded with thoughts on how to accomplish the task at hand, working everything out skillfully. It is overwhelming. But it doesn’t have to be.
If we simply take our eyes off of that situation and set them on our Father. He has us, He is there for us like no one else can be, He is the I Am, He is all that we could ever need Him to be. He is our provider, our shelter, our peace, our joy, our comforter, our very present help in time of need. All the many responsibilities, pressures, problems, relationships that cause us stress, worry, fear and anxiety He has them. He see’s them, He is aware of them, He knows.
If you are God’s child, He has you in the palm of His hand and there is nothing going on in your life right now or ever that He doesn’t know about. He is concerned about it all and He is still in as much control of your life as He ever was. Even in the midst of what may seem like chaos, He sees it all, and He is well able to keep everything moving just as it should. Keep it in prayer, He cares for you. He will not fail you. His hands are more than capable especially when ours are not.
So encouragement for today is:
Relax, God has it all under control. We are in the palm of His hand, and We are not the one’s holding it all together, He Is. -The Pressure is off!
