Determination. Inner Strength, courage, boldness steadfastness….
Imagine you were in some sort of fitness challenge. The lone, outlasting survivor will win the prize. Will you outlast? Will it be you remaining standing and enduring?
I’m not a fitness junkie… in fact, I love the t-shirt I came across recently that said, “I was going to go for a run but, the bible says only the wicked man runs when no one is chasing them, sooo….” I just thought it was hilarious and totally agree! But I do know, unfortunately, exercise is essential to our health. And when we are faced with a challenge we often times give up way too soon! We usually give up not because of the weakness of our flesh and bone, but the weakness of our mind. Many of us determine in our mind how far we will go before we even start. In those cases, we are defeated before we begin.
Wolves
the Bible says,
“I send you out as sheep amongst wolves.”
We are the sheep, and our enemy is like a pack of ravenous wolves. Wolves are opportunists. They test their prey, sensing any weakness or vulnerability through visial cuse and even through hearing and scent. Contrary to ambush predator’s that rely on the element of surprise and a short intense burst of energy, wolves secure their prey through endurance. They shase their pre, often over longer distances, sometimes even a few miles, in order to find the right animal or opportunity.
What they lack in size, power and weapons they make up for with collaboration and intelligence. Smaller less powerful than other predators, they work together to take down much larger prey. Most often they select a prey that is in some way weaker or more vulnerable than the other’s in the herd, be it injured, sick, old, very young, or simply in a vulnerable position. Whatever the weakness the wolves know how to exploit it.
Similarity of Wolves and our enemy
I say all this about Wolves because this is what the bible depicts as our enemy. We can see the similarities to our enemy, the devil, and these wolves. Satan is cunning “more cunning than all the other creatures” He is intelligent, He has a plan and determination to steal us away from our Father in heaven, kill us, and destroy any opportunity for real meaningful growth.
