Facts on Suicide
An estimated 703,000 people a year take their life around the world. For every suicide (1), there are likely 20 other people making a suicide attempt and many more have serious thoughts of suicide. Millions of people suffer intense grief or are otherwise profoundly impacted by suicidal behaviors.
Painful life situations include prolonged depression, trauma/abuse, severe anxiety, loss of a loved one, separation and divorce, prison recurrent insomnia, addiction chronic pain and much more.
Suicidal thoughts are usually driven by an overwhelming desire to escape a situation or emotional pain. When you feel overwhelmed, it distorts your thinking to the point that you are temporarily not thinking straight. When you feel suicidal, you begin to believe lies while at the same time believing that your thoughts are entirely rational. Suicidal thoughts are most often driven by episodes of out-of-control emotions, which lead to illogical, irrational and emotional reasoning. Suicide is a permanent, destructive reaction to temporary life problems. Suicidal thoughts are most commonly driven by deep sadness, severe anxiety, and even anger/rage. Common lies in suicidal thinking are:
* I will always feel this way
*There’s nothing I can do to change how I feel or change this situation
*Nothing will help
*I might as well give up
*I’ll Show them! They’ll be sorry!
*I’d be better off if I was dead.
*Others would be better off if I killed myself (the biggest lie of all)
All of the above thoughts are factually untrue! You can feel better! This temporary situation will pass. Things can and will get better. There are people in your life who love and care for you.
When someone dies by suicide, it significantly increases the risk of family and friends around you of dying by suicide also.
You are not a burden, but your suicide would put a burden on others. It would increase the risk that the very people you love would also die by suicide.
If you or someone you know is experiencing Suicidal thoughts, please, speak to your parents and seek professional help and pray to your Father in heaven for guidance.
Life is hard, but You Are Loved
You need to know that you are loved. God loves you and cares for you more than you can ever imagine. He created you for a purpose, and he has a plan for your life. He has a desire for you to live and to accomplish many things for Him. The Lord says in his word: I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you, not to harm you, to give you hope and a future.
It says in Psalm 139:16 Your (God’s) eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
God knows that in this life, we will have troubles. In John 16:33 Jesus goes tells the disciples about the troubles they will face in the future. He tells them: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this life you will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world.” He told them I know the troubles you will have to face in this life. I am giving you a heads up -it wont be easy. But know that I have told you these things ahead of time, so that when the hard times come, you won’t be worried. You can still hold on to your peace through it. Because you can know that I know all about it. And that I am here with you through it all.
God promises to be there with us through it all. He gave us a helper, called the Holy Spirit, to live inside of us, to guide and direct us. To talk to us, comfort us and encourage us. Scripture even says that Jesus is in heaven praying for us, petitioning the Father on our behalf.
Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
There is an enemy out to get you -don’t let him win
And lets remember who is the Father of lies, who desires to steal, kill and destroy you. -The Devil. In this life, we have a very real enemy who is always after us desiring to cause us harm. Be it mental or physical. The enemy wants to be utterly destroyed. He wants to destroy your life, your will, your future, your influence, your reputation, your voice, your happiness, your joy, your peace, your kindness, your good acts toward others, in anyway he can. We have to stand strong against the schemes of the devil. And to do that we must put on the full armor of God. We must be strong.
Your Father in heaven loves you and has not left you alone. He has given you His word as a guide to help you through all situations this life can bring you through. It is full of wisdom, comfort, guidance, peace, and love. All of this is for you. Just for you.
The Full Armor of God:
(hold on to the truth in the Word of God, commit yourself to righteousness and let Gods righteousness shine through you, ready and able to move forward because you know and understand the gospel of Jesus Christ that brings peace to our hearts, believing in the Word of God and holding on to it will allow you to walk through life unharmed by the enemy’s plans to destroy you, protect your mind, thoughts and emotions by remembering you are Saved by Jesus Christ and when the enemy comes hard and fast, and you don’t know what to do, Use the Word of God as a weapon against him. For although he may try and twist it, He cannot refute the Word of God and He cannot even twist it, it the person understands the scripture.)
Paul used this method when he had a problem.
In 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 Paul had a problem, it kept nagging at him, bothering him and causing him pain. So much so that he called it a thorn in his side. If we had a thorn in our side, it would be something that is constantly causing us pain and torment. Paul brought his problem to The Lord and the is the Lord’s reply:
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
(not exactly what one wants to hear) Then paul said:
Because He has said this, “I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christs power may rest on me. That is why, for Christs sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
He took His problem to the Lord, and the Lord gave him a response, Paul took that response and used it as a weapon against the enemy who sought to bring him trouble. The problem didn’t go away, but He held on to the Words of God and used it against his thoughts of despair- this changed his mind from sorrowful to joyful. Christ was there with him THROUGH his pain, he didn’t take him out of his painful situation.
So today, take your problems to Him. He is waiting for you. His desire is to heal you, to speak to you, to love you, nurture you and protect you. Seek Him and you will find Him.
